ICE at the Gaylord Texan

Rustin and I had our frist real date back in 2007 at the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. He was so sweet and wanted to surprise me with it b/c he knew how much I wanted to go. He asked if we should go eat first and I thought no it will get crowded after 7 so lets go now. Well we waited in line for 3 hours! Rustin was such a good sport and we got to get to know each other a WHOLE lot in that time period! After we finished he was STARVING so we went to TGIFridays where he finally got to eat!

They used to just do a bunch of Christmas things as the theme. Then they started to theme the whole thing after certain popular Chirstmas stories. Last year was how the Grinch stole Christmas. We went with our very good friends Amy and TJ.

This year was A Charlie Brown Christmas and we again went with the Trietsch's! By far this year was the best one yet! It was longer than last years and there was SO MUCH interaction. This has become our new holiday tradition! :) We had so much fun! They had a survey at the end to vote on next years theme! Frosty the Snowman was my choice! fingers crossed!

On a funny story side note... we met a really sweet newlywed couple this past summer at Disneyland. Of course I had to start a conversation with anyone else who would choose Disney as a honeymoon spot. As we were talking we discovered we were all from Frisco! Small world and she is a teacher at a MS in FISD! :) So we thought how fun and wished each other well after we got off our rides. Well this weekend when we were at the Gaylord sure enough they saw us and we figured we have to be friends now, God is telling us something! :)
Love spending time with old friends and making new ones!

How the Midwest was FUN!

This past weekend we headed up to Chicago and St. Louis for an amazing couples fall wedding! We started off in Chicago on Thursday and hit every major tourist spot! We love being the typical tourist and Rustin is a good sport with stopping to take as many pictures as I want.
Day 1 was Miracle Mile shopping, Navy Pier, and Millenium Park. We ended that evening with deep dish pizza and meeting up with my best friend from middle school who just moved up to the city last year. We had a great time with Kelly and Chris and some great pizza!

Day 2 we went to the Sears tower up to the 103 floor! I am not a huge fan of heights so Rustin was very proud of me for going to the top. Scary stuff! After that we got on the L train and went to the famous Wrigley field! Rustin was very excited to see such a great baseball landmark! :) That night we caught a flight to St. Louis and had a beautiful dinner at the top of our hotel in a spinning restaurant! Super fun and great views of STL!

Day 3 was wedding day! We headed out the Alton, Illinois in the country for a beautiful fall wedding. I have never seen such amazing colors! We def miss out on the fall in Texas and seeing all the pretty trees was so exciting. The wedding was awesome and we were so happy for Cara and Mark! We had a great time at the reception partying with all of our friends!

Day 4 we had a few hours before we had to head home so we went to the St. Louis arch. Rustin and I rode up to the top in the tiny car and got some great views of the Mississippi river and the city. After the arch and lots of pictures we headed to the Budweiser factory. They have a great free tour to see how everything works and it ends in the tasting room with two free drinks! Rustin was VERY excited about this part of the trip. After the tour we swung back to the city to pick up the newlyweds and headed to the airport. We were on the same flight as the bride and groom so we had lots of fun killing time in the airport. Flying on Halloween was exciting as well due to lots of dressed up people and a free drink on the plane!

All in all we had a great time in the midwest. We will def be heading back to Chicago sometime in the summer to enjoy a Cubs game! Many blessings to the new Mr. and Mrs. Abide! We love yall!

State Fair of Texas

Rustin and I have gone to the state fair as our own tradition the past 3 years. We love walking around the fair looking at the booths, sampling the fine cuisine, and riding the ferris wheel for the best view of the Dallas skyline. It is by far my favorite part of the fall in North Texas.

The first year we went we were engaged and my old roommate from college Brittany and her husband Noah joined us and we watched Jessica Simpson preform at the Chevy main stage. Rustin and Noah were very excited about seeing Jessica... they love her songs!

Last year we went with my friend Amy and her now husband TJ. We rode the Dart rail and had a great time checking everything out. We also had some excitment when we saw OPRAH! We ran over to the fired butter stand where she was sampling a piece for her show.

This year we went and met up with my parents for some fun walking around the fair. Even though we didn't see any celebs this year we had a great time with my parents.
Great weekend for Team Stewart!

I LOVE my job!

If you would have told me the day I graduated from Tech back in 2005 that 5 years later I would be a high school teacher and cheer coach in Frisco I would have never believed you. Back in 2005 I was a Restraunt, Hotel, Inst. Management graduated with a job offer to be a manager at Pappadeaux in Dallas. I was so excited to start my career and knew this was the right place for me to be. Fast forward 2 years and I could feel myself falling out of love with my career and wishing I could just train my younger employees on why the restaurant worked the way it did. AKA TEACH! I was blessed to have a supportive family, friends, and boyfriend (what Rustin was at the time of the switch) to help me move back with my parents, get into night classes for teaching, and make 80 dollars a day as a substitute teacher. Without all that support and love I wouldn't be able to go to a job that I look forward to being at everyday.

Teaching at LSHS has been the best experience ever for me. I had a not so fun time last year in my old school (even though I had some A-M-A-Z-I-N-G teacher friends) and I was so unhappy with my career decision. This year has been a complete 180 for me!

My hubby and I at a football game!

My BFFNAA Kari Jo Ramsey and her husband came to watch the game with me.

My students come in everyday eager to learn new and exciting things about subjects I am so passionate about. They make me want to come to work everyday and tell them everything I know. I feel like the kids here have made me become such a better teacher this year.

My cheerleaders are the sweetest girls ever. They make me want to be a parent to each and every one of them. I look forward to the 2 hour practice after school, the long bus rides, and the painful bleacher seats. I love showing them how far they have come in such a short time and encouraging them to keep imporving on their individual skills to make them a better cheerleader. Cheerleading was such a huge part of my high school life and I want them to have the experiences I had.

My cheerleaders working on a new routine for the Pep Rally.

The faculty at my school has become a small family with lots of late nights and long summer days getting this school ready for opening day. Every teacher around me is an Allstar and we push the students to be the same. Our teachers all work together to help each other and make others do better, no one is out for themselves only. I feel encouraged by my fellow staff members that I am making an impact on these students. I have three principals who would go to battle for me everyday. I know there are times where I will be in the wrong and they will let me know and help teach me to be better. The are great examples to the staff here of how the school system is supposed to work.

The cheer and drill team sponsors at the game. Me(Cheer), Jacki(Drill), Katie(Drill), and Stacey(Cheer).

I am so excited of where I am in my career life today. I feel like I make a little difference in these kids lives everyday. I am blessed to be apart of the Ranger Nation and hope that this school continues to have the positive impact it is having on those involved.

Red Raider Football!

This past weekend we made the long trip up to Lubbock to see the Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the SMU Ponies! Rustin was a good sport through most of the 5 hour drive however he did whine more than Gucci did!

Once we got to Lubbock we reunited with our best friends Andrea and Jeremy Beckwith who are currently getting their Masters at Tech! I have known Dre and Jer for about 6 years now and Dre and I were SO happy when the boys hit it off with flying colors. They define the word bromance! :)

Also staying with the Beckwiths this weekend was my college roommate Brittany and her husband Noah! It was just like old times when the 6 of us reunited! First stop drumroll please CHIMY'S my long lost lover! OMG I forgot how wonderful their margaritas were! AMAZING! Next stop was Louie Louies for some fun times. After that we went down the depot and stopped at Library, Blue Light, and finally ended up at Rocky's! Good times were had by all! Some of Brittany and Noahs friends from Houston also joined us out that night! Love meeting new friends!

Boys: Rustin, Jeremy, Noah, and Nick

Girls: Amanda, Brittany, Andrea, Me

Sunday was GAME DAY! I was so excited to walk around campus and show Rustin all the awesome things I love about Tech! We stopped along the way at several tailgates and ended up at the JONES to watch the game! We toughed it out in the sun till half time then decided we needed some Spanky's and we finished the game there! All in all we had a GREAT weekend! GO TECH!
